SpeedGps privacy policy
The short version is that it does not send anything anywhere. It holds no internet permission, so it could not if it wanted to.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
What the app accesses
Location. SpeedGps reads your position, speed, direction of travel and altitude from your device's GPS receiver. This is the entire purpose of the app: without it there is nothing to display. Location is read only while the app is open and on screen. It is not read in the background.
Barometric pressure. On devices with a barometer, SpeedGps reads air pressure to display it. This sensor requires no permission and reveals nothing about your identity or location.
What the app does with it
Readings are displayed on screen and then discarded. Specifically, SpeedGps:
- does not transmit your location, or anything else, off the device
- does not store your location, or any history of where you have been
- does not record trips, routes or tracks
- does not contain analytics, advertising, crash reporting or any third-party tracking
- does not require or request an internet connection
The released app holds two Android permissions in total,
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION. It does
not hold the INTERNET permission,
so it is not capable of sending data anywhere even in principle.
The only thing SpeedGps saves is your display preferences — the mode, the units, and the reference levels readings are quoted against, as you last chose them. These are stored on your device and contain no personal data.
Sharing
Nothing is shared, because nothing is collected. There are no third parties, no servers and no accounts.
Children
SpeedGps collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
You can withdraw location permission at any time in Android's app settings. The app will continue to run and will say plainly that it cannot show speed, heading or position without it. Uninstalling the app removes the stored display preferences.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
